It’s been nearly 50 hours since Bollywood star Saif Ali Khan was attacked in a brutal assault.

Thankfully, the actor’s condition has improved, and doctors confirmed that he is no longer in danger.

However, he’s still required to rest completely, avoid any walking, and follow strict instructions for his recovery.

In the meantime, on Friday, January 17, local police, along with the Crime Branch and Crime Intelligence Unit, began a search for the suspected attacker.

The police detained a man earlier that morning for questioning. But after five hours of interrogation, it was concluded that he was not connected to the crime, and he was released.

Authorities said the man was initially detained because he appeared to resemble the individual seen in the CCTV footage from Saif’s building.

The CCTV footage, which was made public, showed the attacker wearing a blue t-shirt.

On Saturday, January 18, the police released another image, this time showing the suspect in a yellow shirt.

The last known sighting of the individual was at Bandra station.

Police now suspect that the attacker may have changed clothes after the assault in an attempt to mislead investigators.

It’s believed that the suspect may have caught a train from Bandra station afterward.

Authorities are now considering that this individual could be a “dangerous criminal,” since he made an effort to confuse the police by changing his clothes and leaving the scene of the crime.

In other developments, Saif’s wife, Kareena Kapoor Khan, has given her statement to Bandra police regarding the attack on her husband.

According to the news agency ANI, her statement was recorded on Friday evening, January 17, in the presence of senior officers at their home.

So far, the police have collected over 30 statements related to the incident.

The Mumbai Police initially formed 10 investigation teams, but they have now expanded to 20 teams.

CCTV footage from the Bandra area has been seized, and three individuals are currently being questioned.

However, no arrests have been made in connection with the attack as of now.

The assault took place around 2:30 AM on Wednesday, January 15, when Saif was injured while attempting to stop a robbery.

He was immediately rushed to Lilavati Hospital, where doctors performed surgery. Medical reports revealed that Saif was stabbed in the spine, causing significant damage to his spinal cord.

Doctors managed to remove a two-and-a-half-inch-long piece of the knife from his back.

Thankfully, Saif is now recovering and no longer in danger.
